MAKE IT HARD
I have always had a fascination with art made predominantly out of the texture of something, focusing most of my A level portfolio on plastering everything I could lay my hands on in plaster, gauze, dripping paint and anything else that got in the way. David Hepher, featured in an earlier post, was a huge inspiration for this.
So when I read about Make It Hard, Helmut Lang's art installation in New York I was naturally delighted at the merging of both a legendary designer and current textural pieces.
However it is not just the exhibition which is captivating, it is how it came about.
Lang shredded 600, yes 600, pieces of clothing from his archive and used them to make these vertical structures.
Shredded..
Yes it made me wince too at the thought but the thought of working with such freedom and a lack of care for chronicling his work or for what has past is a really fresh one.

David Hepher
I've been a huge fan of David Hepher for the last five years and attended one of his exhibition spaces in London. I'd love some of these large prints in an office space contrasting against a pale pink wall.
